Case coders print barcodes, batch codes, expiry dates and logos directly onto corrugated boxes as they move, with no labels, no applicator and no pre-printed stock.

Why print instead of label

Labels, stickers and pre-printed packaging all have to be bought, stored and counted, and all of it becomes waste the moment artwork changes. Printing directly onto the case removes that inventory entirely, along with the floor space it occupies.

Printhead options

• Up to 18mm print height for single-line codes and small marks
• Up to 72mm print height for large text, logos and multi-line blocks. That is close to three inches of print in a single pass.

Ink systems

Available with cartridge or bulk ink. Cartridge suits lower volumes and simpler handling. Bulk suits continuous production, where cartridge changes become a cost in themselves.

UV curable ink is the capability that separates these from most case coders. Standard water-based ink needs a porous surface to soak into, and plain corrugate provides it. UV ink cures rather than absorbs, so it prints on coated corrugate, chipboard, timber and overwrap, where water-based ink would sit on the surface and smear.

One ink type per machine

Worth knowing before you specify. Changing ink types on a given unit is not recommended. If you run both porous and non-porous substrates, plan on a machine for each rather than swapping ink between them.
