The economics of a legacy printer
The ZM400 is long out of production and still in service across thousands of plants. A replacement head costs a small fraction of a current-generation printer, and it avoids the retraining, remounting and driver work that swapping platforms brings with it.
Where 300 dpi earns its place
Twelve dots per millimetre holds small point sizes and 2D symbologies that 203 dpi smears. If your labels carry lot data, ingredient panels or Data Matrix codes, the extra resolution is the difference between a first-pass read and a rejected code.
