Linx 10 Parts and Replacement

The Linx 10 has been discontinued. If you are still running one, this page covers what we can supply to keep it going, and what to weigh up when repairing it stops making sense.

We still stock Linx 10 parts

A discontinued printer is not a dead printer. The Linx 10 installed base is substantial and the machines run for years with correct servicing. We hold the fluids and wear parts:

B101 or B102? Get this one right

B101 is the non-MEK solvent. B102 is MEK. They are not interchangeable, and running the wrong one affects viscosity, drying and print quality. Check what your ink system is set up for before ordering. If you are not certain, send us your printer's configuration and we will confirm it for you.

When does replacing beat repairing?

There is no universal answer, but a few things tip the balance:

  • Parts availability tightens over time. Discontinued means the clock is running on OEM stock, even where the installed base is large.
  • The Linx 10 prints three lines of text. If you now need 2D codes such as Data Matrix, QR or GS1, the machine cannot produce them, and retailer requirements are moving that way.
  • Service cost against machine value. Once annual servicing approaches a meaningful fraction of a new coder, the arithmetic stops working.
  • Downtime risk. A single machine with no spare and a shrinking parts supply is a production risk, not just a maintenance one.

What we recommend as a replacement

We supply the BestCode QuantumX, a stainless steel IP65-rated continuous inkjet printer built for wet and harsh environments.

For a Linx 10 owner, the practical differences are:

  • Five lines of print rather than three, with barcodes and graphics
  • IP65 stainless steel rather than IP55, so it takes washdown
  • 10.4 inch touchscreen rather than 7 inch
  • AutoClean removes daily and weekly printhead cleaning entirely
  • Auto-ranging 100-240V, so no electrician and no transformer
  • No service contract required
  • Made in Texas, which shortens the parts supply chain considerably

One thing to be clear about: the QuantumX does not use Linx fluids or Linx service parts. It runs BestCode SmartFill ink and makeup. If you are running both machines through a transition, check the part number before ordering anything.
